Blocked sink, bath and shower

Blocked sink, bath and shower
Kitchen sinks packed with grease, bathroom basins full of hair, and shower trays that empty at a crawl are among the most frequent domestic call-outs. Left alone, standing water smells and overflows onto floors.
Causes
Food slurry, fats that cool in the trap, soap scum combined with hard-water scale, and collapsed bottle traps under kitchen units. Shared wastes mean a bath and basin may both slow when only one trap looks clean.
What we do on site
We protect cupboards and floors, open traps where accessible, clear or replace damaged traps, and rod or jet the first section of waste as required. If the underground drain is at fault, we say so and point you to wider blocked drains or drain jetting options with an agreed price.
When to call
Call when water backs up toward the overflow, smells persist after cleaning, or multiple sanitary fittings are slow. Related kitchen work: kitchen plumbing. Guide: how to unblock a sink. Phone 01332 314146.
Kitchen grease habits
Pouring oil down the sink builds layers that catch food particles. Wipe pans, use strainers, and run hot water after dishwashing. These habits will not clear an existing blockage but they reduce how soon it returns after our visit.
Shower tray wastes
Low-profile wastes clog with hair gels and skin debris. We clear and advise on hair traps. If the trap body is cracked, replacement is cleaner than endless rodding.
When plumbing joins tiling
Trapped wastes behind bath panels need an access panel for future maintenance. If your enclosure has none, we may recommend cutting a discreet hatch rather than destroying tiling on every visit.
