Central heating pipework and leaks

Central heating pipework and leaks
Heating pipe leaks under floors or in voids drive boiler pressure loss and hidden damage. Microbore and 15 mm copper each present different access challenges.
Symptoms
Repeated need to repressurise, damp along pipe runs, and gurgling as air enters through leak paths. Not every pressure loss is a leak — expansion vessel faults exist — but unexplained loss deserves investigation.
Visit approach
We correlate pressure behaviour with visual evidence, open the minimum necessary access, repair or replace the failed section, reinstate inhibitor as appropriate, and retest. Detection support: leak detection. Emitter issues: radiator repair.

Floor types
Chipboard, floorboards and screed each change access time. We estimate opening and making-safe differently so quotes stay realistic.
Plastic versus copper history
Homes with mixed eras of plumbing need careful transitions. We do not force incompatible fittings together to “just get it holding”.
Inhibitor and filters
After opening a system we discuss inhibitor levels and magnetic filters that catch future debris before it reaches the boiler.
