Low water pressure
Diagnose/fix
Low water pressure
Weak showers, trickling cold taps on upper floors and boilers that lock out on low flow all point to pressure or flow restrictions. Causes range from partially closed stopcocks to scaled pipes and utility-side limits.
Diagnosis steps
We measure static and running pressure where practical, check stopcock and service valve positions, inspect shower heads and tap aerators for scale, and consider whether a pump or alternative shower design is appropriate for the system type. Gravity-fed loft tanks behave differently from mains-fed combis.
Visit outcomes
Sometimes the fix is simple isolation-valve restoration or cleaning. Elsewhere we may recommend shower pumps, leak investigation if pressure falls mysteriously, or discussion with your water company for supply-side limits. Price for on-site works agreed before proceeding.

Measuring properly
A single anecdote of a “weak shower” needs numbers. We compare upstairs and downstairs, hot versus cold, and static versus flowing pressure so we do not sell a pump for a scaled shower head.
Shared supplies
In some terraces and flats, neighbour usage causes temporary drops. Logging when pressure fails helps separate plumbing faults from supply contention.
Company side issues
If the communication pipe or street main is at fault, we document readings so you can contact your water retailer with evidence rather than guesswork.
