Radiator repair

Radiators that leak at valves, weep from seams or refuse to heat properly are repairable in many cases without replacing the whole heating system. Pinholes in steel panels become more common as systems sludge.

Typical jobs

Lockshield and TRV replacements, bush leaks, board-sludge related cold spots, and rehanging radiators that pull away from clips. We protect floors from system water, which stains easily.

Visit flow

Isolate radiator valves, drain down the unit or local circuit as needed, replace faulty parts, refill and vent, then check boiler pressure on sealed systems. Widespread cold bottoms may lead to a conversation about power flushing.

Balancing basics

After valve work we set lockshields so the radiator shares flow with the rest of the loop. A scalding hallway radiator and a cold bedroom often need balancing more than a new boiler.

TRV myths

TRVs sense room air; curtains and cabinets fool them. We advise on head position so the valve can work as designed.

Leak stains

Black water stains on carpet need prompt blotting. We carry absorbent materials for small drains-down; large carpet restoration is a separate trade.
