Power flushing

Power flushing circulates cleansing chemistry through the heating system to mobilise sludge and magnetite that restrict radiators and strain boilers. It is useful when multiple emitters are cold at the bottom or the system water is heavily discoloured.

What to expect

We assess whether flushing is suitable, protect the boiler per method, connect flushing equipment, work radiator by radiator, clear the magnetic filter if fitted, refill with inhibitor, and check operation. It is not a magic fix for undersized boilers or failed pump heads — we say so if those are the real issue.

Mess and duration

Flushing takes several hours on a typical three-bed system and needs parking for equipment. Soft furnishings near radiators should be moved. Water discharged is dirty — we manage hoses carefully.

Not a substitute for repair

Pinholed radiators still need repair or replacement after cleaning. Boilers with failed heat exchangers need boiler repair by Gas Safe partners.

Aftercare

Expect clearer water and more even heat when sludge was the main issue. We note any radiators that remain problematic for targeted follow-up.
